Gentoo is the next generation of corrosion-resistant and easy-cleaning coatings. With its combination of high performing abrasion resistance and very low sliding angle, Gentoo excels where other coatings have fallen short. Its incredible fluid-repellency shows tremendous promise in extreme environments. Gentoo has been funded by the US Military to develop this technology — designed to create a new type of coating that would be clear, durable and capable of effectively shedding water and mud off F-35, F-16 & F-18 fighter jets canopies while being durable enough to fly into the rain, also for protection against corrosion on landing gears, steel cables on the US Navy aircraft carriers and warships. Gentoo is a "flexible ceramic" sol-gel coating that combines polyurethane and polysilane with a fluorinated layer that allows for a very thin coating to be extremely repellent, durable, and flexible.

Ultra-thin (5 µm) flexible-ceramic sol-gel originally developed for F-35, F-16 & F-18 canopies. Anti-corrosion, self-cleaning, water/solvent repellent, and durable from −50 °C to 200 °C.
